P1’s Approach to Innovation


Through strategic efforts and close collaboration with partners across the national and international research and innovation ecosystem, P1 aims to strengthen the ties by following a collaborative model of bringing together researchers, university incubators, industry partners, domain experts and stakeholders.

The principles supporting the P1 innovation strategy is grounded in the vision of conducting human-centric, trustworthy, and ethical AI research, addressing and developing novel solutions to pressing societal challenges by following the framework of the 7-Step Plan and Moonshot agenda.

With the ambition of transforming fundamental and cutting-edge scientific breakthroughs into impactful innovation, P1 Director, Prof. Serge Belongie and P1 Chief Innovation Officer, Camilla Nørgaard Jensen, have co-developed the tool: The Elements of Innovation. The Elements of Innovation is developed to inspire Moonshots and innovation projects, drawing on the unique Nordic advantages as a competitive edge for innovation, driving responsible economic growth while sustaining democratic values and a strong welfare system.

P1 National Advisory Board

Composed of leading figures from industry and public institutions, our National Advisory Board are engaged through several efforts to provide strategic insight, foresight and perspectives, strengthening the alignment between pioneering research and domain specific priorities.

Through events and workshops, the National Advisory Board and P1 Faculty and researchers are brought together to share knowledge and expertise, fostering connections and collaboration across industry and academia.


Young Researcher Entrepreneurship Bootcamp

In close collaboration with the Danish universities, and co-organized by DTU Compute, DTU Skylab, DIREC - Digital Research Centre Denmark, and P1, the Young Researcher Entrepreneurship Bootcamp (YREB) supports junior researchers in exploring and pursuing entrepreneurial career pathways through an intensive programme, equipping participants with knowledge, skills and tools. YREB strengthens research-based entrepreneurship, supports university-based startup creation, and fosters collaboration across the Danish innovation ecosystem.
