Are you curious about the impact of AI on sound and music? Join the opening talk and discussion of a workshop where we will explore the opportunities and challenges the AI revolution brings to the world of sound and music, together with the students of the Music Production program of the Rhythmic Music Conservatory.

At the end of 2022, in an online talk, I emphasized that there is no foundation models for audio yet, but we may expect them very soon. In 2023, that landscape started to change considerably, with the accessibility of AI apps and services for everyday users. A prime example is “Heart On My Sleeve” by Ghostwriter, an AI-generated track that featured vocals resembling Drake and The Weeknd. Will the music industry respond with new restrictions in licensing agreements, and push for legal reform, or will it adapt to and find ways to profit from this new wave of creative output? What are the implications concerning the practitioners?

  1. Understanding AI’s influence: Gain insights into how AI is revolutionizing the sound and music industry and its practitioners, opening up fresh avenues for creativity and innovation.
  2. AI-assisted Music Production: Explore how AI can streamline the production process, from automated mixing and mastering to intelligent sound design and audio post-production.
  3. Ethical considerations: Discuss the ethical implications of AI in sound and music and engage in meaningful conversations about preserving human creativity and expression.
