Date
On 26-27 November 2025, the Nordic AI Meet took place at Visualiseringscenter C in Norrköping, Sweden, hosted by the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP) and Linköping University, co-organized by the Nordic AI Partnership (NAIP).
Serving as an annual pan‑Nordic conference, the Nordic AI Meet (Nordic AI Young Researcher Symposium) brought together faculty and early career researchers for two days filled with networking, knowledge exchange, poster presentations, session talks, and keynotes.
Nordic AI
In 2021, the Nordic AI Young Researcher Symposium (Nordic AI Meet) was initiated by the Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium (NORA), under the leadership of Klas Pettersen, with the ambition of providing a platform for knowledge exchange on AI and its applications in the Nordic region.
For five years, hosting of the Nordic AI Meet has rotated among the partners, connecting researchers and fostering collaboration to advance AI research and education across the region.
As emphasized by Klas Pettersen, Director of SimulaMet and former CEO of NORA:
"The Nordics is the 11th biggest economy in the world. As individual countries we are small, but together we can make a big impact."

With our shared values and complementary strengths, grounded in deep cultural, historical, and political ties, as well as strong inter-country relationships, the Nordics represent a high standard of living, comprehensive welfare systems, and a strong commitment to democracy and human rights.
Providing a platform for collaboration, the Nordic AI Partnership aims to leverage the unique Nordic advantages to develop responsible AI systems, offering a distinctive competitive edge in the global AI landscape, built on trust, transparency, and openness, by bringing together the Nordic AI community as an important step forward.
Supporting and Celebrating Early-career Researchers in Artificial Intelligence
To support the upcoming generation of researchers who will influence future directions, the Nordic AI Meet gathers Master's students, PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-stage researchers to explore emerging ideas, methodologies, theoretical frameworks, and build professional networks.
Leveraging this ambition, the scientific program features session talks and poster presentations that spotlight excellent research every year - and that deserves celebration!
Based on participants’ voting for the standout contributions, we were honored to award the Best Oral Presentation to Shubhra Mishra, first-year PhD student at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, for her presentation on Do Language Models Understand What Makes Math Problems Interesting?
The Best Poster Presentation was awarded to Jaike van Twiller, postdoctoral researcher at the IT University of Copenhagen, Denmark, for his poster Navigating Demand Uncertainty in Container Shipping: Deep Reinforcement Learning for Enabling Adaptive and Feasible Master Stowage Planning.
Additionally, we were thrilled to announce the upcoming Nordic AI Championship - an initiative emerging from the Danish National Championship in AI (DM in AI).
Running since 2021, DM in AI has grown into a central platform for AI talent in Denmark, serving as a national competition, where student teams develop AI solutions to real-world problems during a week-long hackathon, co-organized by Ambolt.AI, Danish Data Science Academy (DDSA), and the Pioneer Centre for Artificial Intelligence, with support from partners across academia and industry.
Co-organized by NORA, the initiative was brought to Norway this year, and the winners of the Norwegian Championship in AI (NMiKI) Attention Heads, were celebrated at the Nordic AI Meet.
Our sincere appreciation and thanks go to all the participants, keynote speakers, session speakers, NAIP organizers, and local organizers who made the conference a great success.
We look forward to seeing you at the Nordic AI Meet 2026, which will take place in Iceland at Reykjavík University!
